setting

I am reading Lost Names.
I think that the setting in this book highly effects the events that happen. For example if the characters hadn't lived in korea at this time then they wouldn't have had to move to manchuria, and the narrators father would not have had to stand up for his rights and be arrested and marked as a criminal which effected the rest of his family, especially making the japanese suspect his son of being a criminal and a liar too. The son would not have been beaten up on his first day of school just for singing a foreign song if they had lived in a different time period or country. I also think the main character is affected by the fact that his family lives in a larger richer house and it makes him feel a little ashamed and shy that his friends are all poorer than him.

Yes I think so too. If your character had not lived in those places nonee of those things would have happened. I guess your book has something to do with the country being occupied and discrimination. Usually we sing songs of different languages to our friends and stuff. I guess in that time period it wasn't such a great thing to do. Alot of people would be bragging and showing off their larger house and things these days. Without the setting of the story the book would have been way different. The characters would have been affected differently too. 'The Lost Names" would be a interesting book to read.
nice post : )
